Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the best way for me to bring my recycling cart to the curb?
The best way to wheel your recycling cart to the curb is to tilt the cart back before rolling it. Firmly grip the lid handle, place your foot on the metal bar at the base of the cart and then tilt the cart back towards you. This will allow you to easily wheel the cart to the curb.

I recycle a lot of cardboard.
Will it fit inside the recycling cart? The 64-gallon recycling cart can accommodate cardboard, however, we recommend that you breakdown or flatten the cardboard to maximize space. Excess cardboard that doesn't fit inside the recycling cart needs to be bundled and tied, so it does not blow away and litter the streets. Place extra bundles alongside the recycling cart for service.

Can I put Styrofoam and packing peanuts in my new cart for recycling?
No, Styrofoam, packing materials and plastic bags are NOT RECYCLABLE in the Single Stream Recycling Program. Please refer to the single stream recycling announcement on the home page for a detailed list of acceptable materials.

I have more recyclables than will fit in my cart. What should I do?
For those households with large families or who regularly recycle more than 64-gallons each week, San Bruno Garbage Company can provide you with a 96-gallon recycling cart at no extra charge.
